Preventative care includes eye disease screening

Dear patients,

OHIP covered eye disease screening for early detection and treatment of vision loss is offered by Euclid Telehealth at Tay River Health Centre!

Did you know?

1 in 5 Canadians will suffer from preventable vision loss.

Preventive care helps detect or prevent serious diseases and medical problems before they can become major. Routine health screening is key in early diagnosis and treatment, improving health outcomes. As such, your healthcare provider may refer you to Euclid Telehealth.

Euclid Telehealth focuses on eye disease assessments for the leading causes of vision loss and blindness, such as: glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, among others. They also provide amblyopia screening, a disorder where the eyes may appear normal during infancy and childhood, but there is vision loss.

Anyone can access OHIP covered eye disease screening (it is always good to set up a baseline at a younger age). If any of the following apply, you should consider annual screening:

- You are over 40 years old

- You are diabetic

- You have a family history of eye disease

- You are experiencing any of the following:

  • Blurred vision

  • A gradual change in vision

  • Increased difficulty driving at night

To book an appointment for eye disease screening, please call Euclid Telehealth directly at 1-800-511-5661.

For more information about Euclid Telehealth, you can access their webpage at www.euclidtelehealth.org

Euclid will be on site at our office on Monday to Friday, 8:30am-4pm.
